by Donna Grant

I’ve read and loved Donna Grant’s books since the Warriors and Highlanders series. Her worldbuilding and characters are so multidimensional (see what I did there?!).
Marcus is the King of Lavenders, and has been sensing something or someone calling to him deep inside Iron Hall on Zora. Fedra has been in stasis for centuries waiting to awaken and fulfill her purpose. Their purposes are diametrically opposed to each other, and for this reason, their romance was a very, very slow burn. (Really, almost at the very end of the book.) New dangers to the Dragon Kings and their allies are revealed. Much danger and intrigue to get through before these characters can become a couple. Someone coming into the series at this point can easily catch on because the author provides detailed author’s note in the beginning sharing backgrounds, and there is much contextual references to build the story.
I loved being back on Zora with the Dragon Kings and their mates. I was disappointed that we really didn’t get to see much of Marcus and Fedra as a romantic couple, but hopefully we can see their story develop in the remaining books of the series. We’re definitely working through to a climactic ending to this series, and I think that Brandyr (Con and Rhi’s son) will have the culminating story. And it will probably be as explosive and riveting as his parents. Something for this bookworm to look forward to!
